Pharmacy Chain’s £20K Boost for Charity
After partnering with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) two years ago, Right Medicine has raised an incredible £20,000 for the charity.
The money was raised after initiatives at the 46 branches alongside a variety of fundraising events and will be used to support patients living with chest, heart, stroke conditions and Long Covid in Scotland. Having selected CHSS as its charity partner, the money has been raised by providing Right Medicine customers with the option to round up purchases to the nearest pound and a variety of team led fundraising events including raffles, bake sales, Christmas jumper days. Staff led fundraising events raised further money for the charity and included Kiltwalks, a fire walk and even a music festival in Wick.
“On behalf of CHSS I want to offer our heartfelt thanks to Right Medicine Pharmacy for the last two years of incredible support they have offered our charity,” said Anne Magarin, Community, Events and Corporate Fundraiser for CHSS.
“Partnerships like this are extremely important to CHSS to help us raise vital funds to support the one in five people across Scotland with our conditions. But these partnerships can only be successful with passion, enthusiasm and energy from everyone taking part and Right Medicine Pharmacy had all of those elements in abundance.
“Although the two year partnership is officially over we will continue to collaborate with Right Medicine Pharmacy in the future on different projects.”
Richard Stephenson, Right Medicine Pharmacy’s director of operations, said: “We’re hugely proud of what this partnership with CHSS has achieved.
“Raising £20,000 is a fantastic result, but just as important has been the opportunity to raise awareness of conditions that affect so many people across Scotland. Our teams and
customers have really got behind this, and that sense of community has made a real difference. We’re excited to keep working together and continue building that awareness going forward.”
Going the Distance
Katarína Očkaiková who works at Davidsons Pharmacy in Pitlochry took on the Blair Castle Trail Weekender to raise funds for the NICU department at Ninewells Hospital, after they supported her now four-year-old son, Toren.
Born at only 32 weeks following an emergency C-section, Toren was placed in an incubator and had to spend time in the NICU department until he was well enough to go home.
“It is a heartbreaking sight for any parent. I was very scared, anxious and cried every day. All the wonderful nurses, midwives and doctors had been just so supportive and understanding. They are looking after those vulnerable babies with such care and love them like they are their own.”
The NICU is very special to Katarína and she wanted to help support the department while also taking on a new challenge.

“I have always been a person who likes to try new things and push the limits. Four years ago I became a mother for the first time and it changed my whole life completely, my priorities changed naturally. I have suffered from postnatal depression and further with high anxiety which took its toll on me,” she said.
“I was not motivated to do things, and it wasn’t helping my mental and physical wellbeing. The medication, counselling and amazing support from my partner and friends have helped a lot and one day something clicked in me and I’d just had enough of this cycle. My dream has always been to run a long distance race and when Blair Castle
Weekender popped up, I decided it was time for change, it is time for a challenge and to be myself again.”
Katarína’s family and friends, including her colleagues have sponsored her and some local patients too. “Everybody has been cheering me on. It is heartwarming and much appreciated,” she said.
