I REALLY ENJOYED THE LEADERSHIP COURSES FROM NES. DEVELOPMENT OF LEADERSHIP AND MANAGERIAL SKILLS ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN COMMUNITY PHARMACY
The learning, undertaken in the workplace, with Supervised Learning Events at the heart of the assessment process, will enable learners to receive immediate feedback on their performance from pharmacy colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team. The NES team are working with stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to enable remote supervision and Supervised Learning events in work settings where this may be more challenging. This includes using technology, such as Near Me video consultation services.
The RPS will undertake the final summative portfolio assessment and award the end-of- programme credential. The independent prescribing outcomes will be recognised by the Practice Certificate in Independent Prescribing awarded by the Schools of Pharmacy.
Expressions of Interest for the programme are open now until end of August 2021. Registration will open on 15 September 2021. Any enquiries are welcome to

‘This is an exciting development for the programme,’ added Fiona McMillan, Principal Lead Post Registration Foundation Programmes at NES Pharmacy. ‘The development as Independent Prescribers will enable further services to be provided to patients. The evaluation of the pilot has enabled us to learn from the previous developments and therefore enhance the programme further.’
Dean, NES Pharmacy. ‘It is a great time to come and train as a newly-qualified pharmacist in Scotland. Stakeholders in Scotland are working closely with us to ensure changes are implemented successfully.

‘The changes in education at all levels, including post registration foundation level, have the potential to enable the transformation of pharmacy services in all sectors,’ said Susan Roberts, Associate Post Graduate Pharmacy
‘We have collaborated with NES throughout the development of the RPS post- registration foundation curriculum and are delighted to see our curriculum come to life though an innovative training programme with the patient, service delivery, and the needs of newly-qualified pharmacists in Scotland at its heart,’ concluded Caroline Souter, RPS Post-registration Foundation Programme Lead.

COMMENT
Kirsty Kelly, Foundation Pharmacist who was part of the pilot in community pharmacy.
‘I really enjoyed the training programme. I feel it helped me become a better-rounded pharmacist. The feedback from colleagues helped my development. A senior colleague advised me to do the training to keep me developing my skills
‘I really enjoyed the leadership courses from NES. Development of leadership and managerial skills are very important in community pharmacy.
‘I also enjoyed the clinical aspects, undertaking Case-based Discussions (CbDs) and mini- Clinical Examinations (mini- CEX). They enabled me to focus on my consultation skills and clinical aspects of patient care. There were a lot of resources to help me on Turas Learn and I met regularly with my tutor who was supporting me.’
