The Police Federation of England and Wales extends its warmest congratulations to the exceptional officers recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours, celebrating their dedication, innovation, and service to communities across the country. Amongst the


distinguished recipients is Tim Rogers, Branch Secretary of the West Midlands Police Federation, who has been awarded the King’s Police Medal (KPM). With three decades of service, Sergeant Rogers has been instrumental in leading a landmark campaign to reform the legal framework surrounding police driving. Thanks to his efforts, the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 now ensures that officers are assessed against the standards of a “competent and trained police driver” rather than those of a civilian—an achievement that has significantly strengthened protections for officers responding to emergencies.
