There are now more 5 per


cent and 10 per cent deposit mortgages available than at any point in the last 15 years. Some lenders are also offering mortgages with deposits as low as £5,000, and even 100 per cent mortgage options for renters who can demonstrate a strong 12-month payment history — provided they haven’t owned a home in the last three years. Remortgagers also benefit from added flexibility. If your fixed deal is coming to an end, many lenders allow you to secure a new rate up to six months in advance. This gives you time to compare offers and avoid an automatic switch to your lender’s higher standard variable rate.
