Dr Ceri Jones and Stuart Noble have developed the programme over several years. It is evidence based, applying academic research and over 50 interviews with senior police leaders and those retiring at the end of their career. These interviews informed the development of the programme and supporting materials. Working closely with the National
Police Wellbeing Service (NPWS), Oscar Kilo, they have developed the Police Leavers Toolkit, available to all police leavers, providing guidance and material to assist the transition away from the service. Working with staff associations
and NPWS, the programme has been designed and developed in support of the Police Covenant aim to “ensure that police officers and families are not disadvantaged as a result of their

commitment and seeks to mitigate the impact of their service on their day-to- day life”. Ceri and Stuart have delivered resettlement programmes since 2018 across forces in England including: Lancashire, MPS, GMP, Merseyside and West Midlands. They have received support from both the Police Superintendents’ Association and Chief Police Officers’ Staff Association, delivering the programme to senior leaders across the service. Continuing to work with NPWS they are keen to expand the offer to all officers and staff as they leave the service, applying the learning, experience and expertise to ensure each programme recognises the unique challenges individual roles and ranks present.
