The Police Leavers Employment Gateway offers comprehensive resources and personalised support, ensuring officers transition smoothly into civilian life and new careers, while addressing both professional and emotional challenges


For many police officers, the end of a career dedicated to public service can be a significant source of stress. The transition from a valued role within the force to civilian life often brings challenges, including the loss of a support network and the risk of poor mental health. Recognising these challenges, the Police Federation of England and Wales is committed to ensuring that every officer receives personalised support as they embark on their next chapter. In collaboration with the


Police Leavers Partnership, led by Dr Ceri Jones, a chartered psychologist, and Stuart Noble, a retired chief superintendent from Lancashire Constabulary, the Federation has been

delivering resettlement programmes since 2018. These programmes have supported officers across various forces in England, including Lancashire, MPS, GMP, Merseyside, and West Midlands.

Recently, they launched an innovative online hub called the Police Leavers Employment Gateway. This platform is designed to support officers nearing retirement or those looking to start a new


career after years of service. The Gateway offers a wealth of resources to help officers transition smoothly into civilian life and explore opportunities in a wide range of industries.


COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT FOR EVERY STEP The Police Leavers Employment Gateway provides step-by-step guides on navigating the job market, from creating the perfect CV to mastering interview tactics. It also offers detailed instructions on where to find job opportunities and


how to apply, ensuring officers are fully prepared for each step of the process. In addition to job preparation, the


platform supports officers in building their professional online presence.
