‘
TRIC is recognised as an award those in the industry want to win’
In an exclusive interview, TRIC chair, Daniel Todaro, gives us the lowdown on this year’s TRIC Awards, which takes place in London on July 6, and, for the first time ever, has a title sponsor – Euronics.
Alert: You’ve taken over from Jane Ostler as TRIC chair. How are you finding the role? Daniel Todaro: It’s a personal pleasure to be chair of TRIC, which is now in its 92nd year. I’m ensuring the 53rd annual TRIC Awards – July 6, Grosvenor House, London – is very much delivered in the voice of all those who work within broadcast media and manufacturers, enabling them to raise funds for good causes in their name.
Alert: This year, for the first time ever, you have a title sponsor for the awards – the Euronics buying group… DT:We are delighted to welcome Euronics to the TRIC Awards as title sponsor. This is a great partnership, which complements the Television & Radio Industries Club’s ethos, raising funds for good causes on behalf of talent across broadcast media, online, TV and radio, and also those who produce the devices we watch and listen on.
Alert: This year’s awards will be presented by TRIC President, Alex Jones, who is well-known as the co-host of The One Show, which she’s worked on for 11 years… DT: She’s been well received – people absolutely love her. Alex will bring some of her One Show magic to the event.
TRIC president, Alex Jones For the first year, we have opened up the public vote of 17
categories to the general public, and we are overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from talent and public alike. TRIC is regaining its crown and continues to be recognised as an award those in the industry want to win.

TRIC chair, Daniel Todaro My ambition is to work with the small but perfectly formed
TRIC Board and grow the TRIC brand as the de facto not-for-profit organisation, representing those who work across the industry – online, TV and radio – to entertain the nation and grow our charitable contributions for good causes. We’ve been amplifying the level of engagement we get from
broadcast media, broadcasters, production houses and talent – not just manufacturers. The response on social media has been absolutely brilliant.
40 TRIC Awards TRIC: the background
TRIC was formed in 1931 and established in the early days of broadcasting as the Radio Industries Club, and Television. The aim of TRIC today is to promote mutual understanding, goodwill and networking among those engaged in the technology and related industries, by the holding of high- profile events, and in doing so to raise money for good causes nominated by TRIC. This year’s awards will be supporting the excellent work of
the Alzheimer’s Society and Save the Children. The event (July 6, Grosvenor House, London) will be
presented in front of a live in-person audience of over 1,000 guests, and will again be streamed, for fans to tune in and to watch all the action on a livestream or on-demand, hosted across streaming platform, ScreenHits TV. TRIC can be found on Twitter via @TRICawards, on
Instagram via @tricawardsuk and online at
www.tric.org.uk. For more information and sponsorship opportunities, please contact TRIC director, Alexia Sciplino:

Alert: So, do you have a final TRIC message for the industry? DT:We’re back at The Grosvenor House, in London, and this year’s chosen charities are Save the Children and the Alzheimer’s Society. Get buying your seats and tables before they sell out. Several sponsorship packages are available – please enquire – and the event is a great incentive for retailers to reward their staff.
