HONORING A LEGACY Patsy Jo Guyer ’61

GROWING SCHOLARS.

In conjunction with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and especially meaningful during the pandemic, the Queens Commitment scholarship program offers a minimum of $10,000 for Mecklenburg County students admitted to Queens. Helping to ease burdens of cost and/or distance has made Queens more accessible to young people in the area wishing to pursue a higher education.

Queens Trustee Katherine “Katie” Belk Morris created an endowed scholarship—in memory of a dear family friend and Queens alumna— for North Carolina residents with financial need.

“I loved the way Queens changed Patsy’s life. I feel like the scholarship is a way to honor her legacy and provide the same kind of thing that she tried to do for so many people.”

— Katie Belk Morris
