SWOOP CENTRAL
JOINT OPERATION: WOLVERHAMPTON LICENSING AND MERSEYSIDE POLICE AT ST HELENS FESTIVAL
City of Wolverhampton Council and Merseyside Police joined forces to ensure all licensed private hire vehicles at the Reminisce Festival in St Helens on 9 September were
safe and
compliant. Similar checks were also carried out in Liverpool city centre. The council’s Compliance Team
posted: “Compliance Officers are undertaking joint-working with our partners Merseyside Police this evening, ensuring all licensed drivers and vehicles are compliant at the Reminisce Festival, St. Helens and in Liverpool CityCentre. “All having a great night and getting home safely.”
BULLETIN FROM PC PATRICK QUINTON - TAXI COP FOR BRISTOL AND SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE
I was working alongside officers from my police station, together with South Gloucestershire Council and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency at Rupert Street, Whiteladies Road and Kingswood last night.
PHV STOPPED BY POLICE ON M55 FOR CARRYING TOO MANY PEOPLE
Lancashire Road Police put this tweet out over the Bank Holiday weekend. “Following a report that this vehicle was leaving Blackpool and carrying too many people, it was stopped on the M55. “We found two adults and four children under four years old in the rear and a ten year old child in the front. “The driver didn’t see anything wrong with this but we did. Driver reported.”

As well as checking hackney carriages and private hire vehicles we also checked minibuses and some members of the public that caught our attention. We
stopped and
checked around 50 vehicles. We issued: • 9 x delayed vehicle prohibitions • 2 x immediate vehicle pro- hibitions
• 4 x £100 tickets to e-scooter riders
• 2 x £100 tickets for illegal number plates (not taxis !)
• 1 x pizza delivery driver who will be going to Court to face disqualification for No business insurance, two tyres worn to the cords, no brake lights and other offences
I’m pleased to say that there were very good compliance rates from taxi / private hire drivers, with only a handful dealt with for plate / badge / lights issues. All of this is to keep the public and you safe.
