point of sale ..... point of sale .. THE TAXI SHOP SAVE DRIVERS

THOUSANDS ON THEIR VEHICLES

The Taxi Shop are pleased to announce that

in June they

signed a contract with one of the major Leas- ing companies in the UK for the deposal of their six-month old ex- lease cars. Rob Breuilly, Manag- ing Director of The Taxi Shop, says: “We have been working along- side this company for many years now and have finally tied a deal that will save fleets and individual drivers thousands of pounds on their purchase of a new vehicle. The vehi- cles that we are now supplying are like new with under 2,000 miles and still carrying the Full Manufacturer’s Warranty. Over the last month, we have been offering this amazing deal to many of our largest fleet customers who have all said they would not buy a brand new vehicle until they has seen the six- month old stock first.” Rob continues: “The average saving is over

£5,000, so many of the drivers are surprised when they can go into a nearly new vehicle within the tight budg- ets we all have to work to in these times. The Taxi Shop knows that none of our competi- tors can offer this deal or come close to matching it.” The Taxi Shop has access to over £5 mil- lion pounds worth of stock available just to them per month and Rob

David Strange (Enter- prise Private Hire, Norwich) comments: “Having just

taken out,

inspects the vehicles and picks the cream of the crop. Paul West (Ringways Cars, Hull) says: “We just bought a Hyundai i40 Estate; the cheap- est quote we got was over £2,000 more and when the vehicle arrived it had covered only 935 miles and it didn’t even have a stone chip on the bon- net. With new con- tracts coming up we needed to work within the budget, this deal made our contracts cost effective.”

delivery of our Insignia SRi we saved £3,011 against a new one. With a mileage of 807 there was no way you could tell this was a six-month old vehicle, even the floor mats were not marked and looked brand spank- ing new. The best benefit is being able to claim the VAT back making monthly pay- ments even cheaper - can’t argue with that!” At The Taxi Shop, they believe this will put them even further ahead of the taxi sup- ply chain and have employed more sales consultants to help the driver through the pur- chase process. They also welcome back Terry Miller whose customers are as pleased to see him back as we are. Contact us on 0845 680 1613 or see our advert on pages 26- 27 and 29.

Innovative technology could prove invaluable in the fight against crash for cash. Swinton Taxi Division is working to raise awareness of an inno- vative system which could help to provide crucial evidence for cab drivers involved in accidents on the road. Swinton Taxi, the UK’s leading supplier of taxi insurance, is spread- ing the word about a forward facing camera system which records the driver’s view of the road - something which could prove to be a valuable tool in the fight against false or exaggerated whip- lash claims and crash for cash scams. The camera is fitted to the top of the windscreen behind the sun visor so does not obstruct the driver’s view. The cameras are avail- able through Marker- Study and Trident poli- cies. The camera is having such an impact that

claims are now being settled in weeks rather than months, and the percentage of

fault

claims is decreasing. Yet the cameras have been met with suspi- cion by many taxi drivers, who are unsure as to how the system works and feel that such a set-up would be unnecessar- ily intrusive. As well as recording the driver’s journey, it can also track the vehicle’s location via a Global Positioning System (GPS), measure the G-force impact of an accident, and record the dynamics of the vehicle, monitoring acceleration and brak- ing. The system is manufactured

by

Smart Witness, which specialises in vehicle CCTV and safety sys- tems technology. It could provide vital evidence in cases where there is a lack of witnesses, and also provide proof in rela- tion to incorrect

driving offences such as speeding, or traffic allegations such as illegal parking. Steve Roberts, Man- ager of Swinton Taxi Division, said: “It is often the case that when a cabbie is involved in a collision with another vehicle, there is little to no evi- dence that the taxi driver in question was not at fault - some- thing which can obviously have a neg- ative

effect on

claiming insurance. “This new scheme will help to protect cab- bies against un- scrupulous drivers looking to stage ‘crash-for-cash’ colli- sions, or file false whiplash claims.” For more information see our advert on pages 1, 3 and 9.

E7 IS THE TOP CHOICE FOR AIRDRIE CABBIE ROBERT

Robert Wotherspoon from Airdrie, a small town in North Lanark- shire, Scotland, has recently

licence following two years as a private hire driver. With the change in plate, came a change in cab as Robert decided to upgrade his Skoda Octavia for a full spec hackney. Robert says: “When I got the hackney plate, I called round a couple of places before finally calling Cab Direct. Ini- tially I enquired about the Peugeot EuroTaxi as there are a couple of guys driving them in Airdrie and I know it’s a

really well priced cab. But in the end Iain gave me such a good deal on the E7™ that I decided that was the best way to go.”

Driver Comfort

When your vehicle is your workplace, com- fort and convenience are certain to be high

on your list of require- ments. That’s why the E7™ has

been

designed and manu- factured with the needs of the modern day driver very much front of mind. Robert says: “Obvi- ously this is my first hackney so I have nothing to compare E7

Practicality at its Best Robert continues: “The best thing about the E7 for me is the fact that it’s a really practical and versatile cab. First off, having six seats rather than five in the back is a bonus straight off the bat.

I

also really like the slid- ing rear seat which allows you to easily change between hav- ing extra room in the boot for luggage or in the passenger com- partment as required.

Space wise, E7 really is excellent.”

Accessibility

There is little doubt that taxis provide a vital component of the UK’s public transport network. Disabled people in particular often depend on taxis to get around, which is why E7™ raises stan- dards in accessibility for disabled passen- gers with Cab Direct’s revolutionary Easy- Glide™ ramp. The versatility provid- ed by E7™ is another big plus points for Robert. He explains: “The company I work for in Airdrie has a lot

of regular wheelchair contracts with schools and hospitals so hav- ing the EasyGlide ramp is brilliant.

It’s

really quick and easy to use.

I’d say for

wheelchair accessible work, it has to be the best cab on the road.” “All round I couldn’t be happier with the E7™. My customers love it too. I’d definitely rec- ommend it.” To find out more about
