DAGENHAM MAN WHO ABUSED WOMAN IN HIS TAXI IS JAILED FOR FOUR YEARS

A taxi driver is start- ing a four-year jail sentence after he sexually assaulted a passenger. Peter Teye planned the assault on his 21- year-old victim in Colchester, Chelms- ford Crown Court heard. Teye, from Dagen- ham, switched off his taxi’s CCTV before attacking

the

woman. The court heard she had been enjoying a night out with friends and had been drink- ing when she got into Teye’s Ford Fiesta. He said he would drive her home. Instead, he stopped his car in Berechurch Hall Road and sexu-

ally assaulted the woman in the early hours of June 9 last year. Teye, 33, denied the sex assault but was convicted after a trial. Judge Charles Grat- wicke told him: “The public, and women in particular, are enti- tled to expect trust from the driver when they get into a taxi. “You breached that trust in a very serious way and there was a degree of planning as you switched off the taxi CCTV. “She did nothing to encourage you and was left in fear. There can only be one sen- tence.” Teye was put on the sex offenders’ regis- ter for life.

A taxi boss, whom Teye was working for at the time of the assault, said he deserved prison for his crime. It has emerged the sex offender faced similar charges in the past. While living in With- am, Teye was cleared of sexually touching a 24-year-old woman in 2009. Clive Woolgar, direc- tor of Colchester firm Five Sevens, told the Colchester Daily Gazette: “Any- one who does something like that deserves what they get. He was given the badge by Colch- ester Council, so our understanding was he was clear. If I had

EXETER SEX PREDATOR JAILED FOR GROOMING CHILDREN ON FACEBOOK

A sexual predator has been jailed for grooming and abus- ing children online. Tony Bradbury be- came so arrogant about his abuse of children that when an undercover police officer contacted him on Facebook under the guise of a teenage schoolgirl, he arranged a meet- ing almost straight away. But awaiting the 41- year-old taxi driver at Exeter Central sta- tion in December last year was not his next intended victim - it was a team of detec- tives and a set of handcuffs. Bradbury, from Exeter, was sentenced to three years and ten

months in custody at Exeter Crown Court for a string of sexual offences. But the full scale of his criminal activity could still be much greater and police believe there may be many other victims out there who are yet to come forward. According to the Exeter Express and Echo, concern about Bradbury’s behav- iour

His online victims were all picked because they lived within easy reach of his home in Exeter. Bradbury admitted two offences of sexu- al activity with a child, two of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, two of causing a child to create pornography, one of attempting to meet a girl after

grooming and 13 offences of distribut- ing, taking or making indecent images of children. During his sentenc- ing Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, praised the way the police had trapped him. He told Bradbury: “You arranged to meet what
