CREATIVE CABBIES MORECAMBE CABBIE TURNS FACEBOOK BLOGS INTO E-BOOK
A taxi driver has writ- ten an e-book about some of his funnier tales and experiences picking up fares. Dave Price,
from
Heysham, who has driven a taxi in the Morecambe and Lan- caster area for six years, is now a fully fledged author as his book How To Annoy A Taxi Driver is for sale on the Amazon website. He told the More- cambe Visitor: “It all started two years ago as Facebook statuses. As something hap- pened, I would write a status about it. “I would get feedback and people thought it was funny. I wrote a blog for Facebook based on what
I
thought about people getting into the taxi.”
On my mobile I have a blog entry and I expanded upon that, and that’s how it all came together. “I’d be writing notes and working at the same time and I thought
going to get this book finished’. “At a certain point I had to draw a line under it.” He submitted his book for publishing and the rest is history. Dave’s Kindle e-book

receives a third from sales. So far he has made £20. He said: “My aim is to entertain and I feel proud of myself for doing it. “Most of the passen- gers I’ve picked up are from round here, and there’s probably an
element of ‘Oh my word, that sounds like the sort of thing I get up to when I’ve had a drink!’ about it. “I guess it qualifies as local interest.” Dave’s next novel will be science fiction but he said: “I’m still writ- ing the blog and that could become another book.”

MANCHESTER CABBIE WHO IS ALWAYS SOUNDING HIS HORN...
Taxi driver Keith Cole- man loves taking his passengers to Baker Street. It’s just one of the hits the 57-year- old serenades cus- tomers with on his saxophone. Keith, known as The ‘Saxman’, pulls the horn from his car boot and plays his favourite songs - including the Gerry Rafferty classic - in between picking up punters. The driver is also happy
to take
requests, such as Happy Birthday. He regularly plays near Manchester Pic- cadilly Train Station and the Hilton Hotel, and can often be spot- ted sitting in his cab, playing along to a backing track. His repertoire includes jazz and blues num- bers, as well as Elvis Presley’s Don’t Be Cruel and the classic Blue Moon. The dad-of-three has been playing for ten years. Keith,
Heath, told the Man- chester
from Newton Evening
News: “When I have a quiet period or I’m waiting for a passen- ger, I like to pull up

somewhere and go through some riffs and stuff. “I like to sit inside the car, open the window, put the seat back, put a backing track on and start playing. I’ve had a lot of people throw money inside before, which is embarrass- ing, and I give it all to charity. “Other times, I will get out of the car and play under the arches; the acoustics are good and amplify the sound. “I get a into my own lit- tle world and it takes the stress out of the job. I love to play the
horn - it is an escape for me. “People seem to love it - they dance around me and take pictures. Policemen give me the thumbs-up and even parking wardens seem to turn a blind eye if by accident I park on a double yellow line.” Keith, who works for Cresta Cars, has been driver for 12 years. He has saxophone lessons and dreams of making it professionally. He added: “I still have music lessons from a tutor as it takes a long time to master this instrument.”
