excited.”
Portsmouth-based Aqua Cars has flouted the global economic crisis by breaking the 100,000 jobs in one week barrier for the first time.
Stab protection for drivers
Aqua Cars processed an incredible 101,219 jobs in just seven days during a bumper fes- tive period – in doing so smashing its previ- ous record, which stood at 83,500. Company owner Barry Leng was delighted when he heard the news: “We thought it was coming. I was looking at the figures every day during the week, and I kept think- ing, ‘we are going to do it!’. I was really
The 100,000 job mile- stone is a significant achievement not only for Aqua, but also for the company’s Data Despatch supplier, Auriga Systems, whose Evocab system managed this huge volume of work.
As well as Auriga’s flagship Evocab Data Despatch system, Aqua Cars use 16 lines of Interactive Voice Response (IVR), which allows cus- tomers to make bookings without even speaking to a tele- phone operator. “This wouldn’t have
been possible without Auriga,” Mr Leng said. Aqua Cars is one of the UK’s largest pri- vate hire firms, with more than 700 vehi- cles. For more information, visit

Philip Lamprey, from Bridgend in South Wales, is delighted with his new model Toyota Avensis TR from Cab Direct. When Philip got his hackney license, only nine months ago, he considered all his options before decid- ing which cab to buy. In the end, the ever- popular Toyota Avensis beat the com- petition hands down. Philip explains: “When I decided to take up taxiing I sought advice from mechanics and other people in the know as I wanted to make sure I bought a vehicle that was up to the job. Everyone rec- ommended the Avensis and now that I’ve got one, I can see why. It’s great!” Reliability & Drive For more than a decade the Toyota Avensis has been a firm favorite with the UK's hard working taxi trade. Toyota’s latest

model, however, takes the proud Avensis rep- utation to an even higher level. There’s simply no disputing Toyota’s reputation for reliability and the Avensis is testament to that. Outstanding build quality is your assurance of a pleas- urable drive, every fare. From the respon- sive D-4D diesel power plant to the smooth, 6-speed gear- box there's no compromise about this superb work- horse.
Philip comments: “The new Avensis is simply fantastic to drive. The fuel consumption is impressive too. You know, with Toyota, that you have a reliable engine too. In this trade, that kind of peace of mind is cru- cial.” Top Specification Another big plus point for Philip is the specifi- cation available with the new model range.
The spec on the entry- level T2 is simply superb, offering air- conditioning, electric windows, power assisted steering and a MP3-compatible radio/CD audio sys- tem featuring 6-speakers as stan- dard. All new Avensis models also come equipped with seven airbags as standard for added reassur- ance.
Upgrade to a higher
spec model, as Philip did, and you’ll also enjoy digital climate control, Bluetooth™ connectivity, automat- ic wipers and headlights and the all- important 17” alloys wheels.
Philip says: “I’ve been really impressed with the spec in the Aven- sis. I’d most definitely recommend it to other divers, the TR in par- ticular.
Other drivers in my area love it too!”
Bigger than its prede- cessor, the new Avensis creates a spa- cious and comfortable environment for both drivers and passen- gers alike. The increased boot capac- ity is sure to prove popular too.
Philip says: “The space in the Avensis is fantastic - it makes for a very relaxing and comfortable drive. The driver’s seat is
great too. The lumbar support comes in real- ly handy when you’re spending such long hours behind the wheel.”
Best of all, the great news for taxi drivers is that Cab Direct have negotiated a unique taxi trade special price with Toyota, offering the fabulous, all-new model Avensis at an unbeatable price of only £59.95 weekly plus VAT.
Philip continues in his praise: “I can’t fault the Avensis.
All-
round, it’s just a great taxi. I’d happily rec- ommend Cab Direct too – when it’s time to renew I’ll be going straight back to them.” For more information on the Toyota Aven- sis call Cab Direct free on 0800 916 3058, visit
