SCOTLAND-WIDE BAN FOR PERVERT CABBIE
A pervert taxi driver has been banned from working as a bus or taxi driver anywhere in Scotland. Peter Campbell, 52, received the three- year-long nationwide ban when he appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court.
The Greenock Tele- graph reports that the driver, from Greenock, was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Regis- ter for five years and ordered to attend a specialist sex offend-
ers’ rehabilitation pro- gramme - but was spared prison after Sheriff John Herald told him custody would not be a suit- able punishment. The court previously heard how Campbell locked an 18-year-old girl in his taxi and made a string of sexu- al remarks to her after picking her up near West Station in Greenock at 2am. The court was also told of a previous inci- dent, committed while
Campbell was a bus driver three years ago, when he made sexual remarks to a female passenger.
On both occasions he locked the women inside the vehicles - leaving the 18-year-old fearing she was about to be raped.
Sheriff Herald told Campbell: “This was a very frightening expe- rience for these young women where you spoke to them in a completely unaccept- able and inappropriate

Campbell asked the women if they had ever groped men in public places and whether women looked at men’s trunks at swimming pools, as well as mobile phone sex videos. Through solicitor Ellen Macdonald, Campbell pleaded guilty to con- ducting himself in a disorderly manner, making sexual remarks to a woman passenger
on a bus he was driving in Kilblain Street, delay- ing opening the doors and placing the woman in a state of fear and alarm, breaching the peace, on 11 May 2006. He also admitted con- ducting himself in a disorderly manner, making sexual remarks to a female passenger in his taxi, locking the door and placing the woman in a state of fear and alarm, committing a breach of the peace on 2 February 2009.
