NVQ FARE REWARD FOR BEDFORD DRIVERS
ANOTHER MAJOR SUCCESS FOR SALISBURY’SVALUE CARS GROUP
Nearly 100 private hire and taxi drivers have been handed their NVQs after passing a training course aimed at raising standards of customer service. They received their certificates at a gradu- ation ceremony at Queens Park Commu- nity centre.
Bedford Council’s Keith Simmons told the Bed- fordshire on Sunday: “The council is commit- ted to developing a professionalised taxi trade in Bedford to
meet the needs of local residents and business. “This project is a major contribution to this aim and has brought government funding into the Bed- ford economy.
In
addition, this project has given each of the drivers a qualification which demonstrates transferable skills and will support their per- sonal development.” The 95 drivers com- pleted their course at Bedford College over a three-month period.
It has been quite a year for Salisbury based taxi company The Value Cars Group. The latest in a string of accolades is winning the award for Compa- ny of the Year by Go Skills, in their Go for Excellence awards held at Wembley Stadi- um on 3rd December. It was a glittering affair with 24 companies from across the UK present. The award recognises contribu- tion to training and development; not only with their own staff but by raising the bar in the industry and training over 500 taxi and pri- vate hire drivers across the South and South West in the last year. As well as their award, Adrian Sainsbury, MD of the Value Cars Group, received a let-

ter of congratulations from Primeminister Gordon Brown.
The training centre has gone from strength to strength under the management of Tony Quinn. Tony said, “We are so proud of our achievements, it is
through hard work and dedication that we are now viewed as a provider of excellence within the industry.” This award comes on the back of their accreditation with the nationally recognised quality mark for organi-
sations which provide support to individuals to make learning and work more accessible - the Matrix Standard. This standard recognises The Value Cars Group’s ability to provide the best information, advice and guidance possible to their learners; whether internal or from external companies. Mr Sainsbury said, “Wow, what a year.
It
has been success after success. What with Matrix, the Go Skills award, South Wilts Business of the Year Winner of Winners award and being reac- credited for Investors in People, we are right at the top of our game and it is so gratifying to be recognised by our industry and peers and the Prime Minister, of course!”
