VEEZU BACKS CAB9: Q&A
Responses by Josh Ryan Chief Operating Officer
www.veezu.co.uk
1. Why has Veezu chosen to back Cab9 specifically, and why now?
Cab9 is a leading player in the dispatch market and brings a wealth of expertise and technological know-
how to Veezu’s existing business. While we are proud of the business that Veezu has developed into over the last 13 years, our ambition is to change the way private hire and taxi services are delivered to passengers, driver partners and business customers. This requires a strong focus on technology and innovation, which made Cab9 the obvious choice when it came to a partner.
Veezu is a national operator with ambitions to continue growing and providing passengers with a modern private hire service. Without our own dispatch technology, there are limitations on how far we can take our growth and the services we can offer. With this investment, Veezu is in pole position to take on the multinational ride-hailers and show that a bricks-and-mortar business that has its roots in the Welsh Valleys can fight toe to toe with the major players.
2. What does this mean in practice for operators using Cab9 day to day?
Operators should expect more of what they already value in terms of features and functionality, delivered faster. The investment will advance the development of Cab9’s dispatch platform and apps, specifically around data and insights, winning passengers and keeping them. It is also about ensuring driver- partners have technology that maximises their earnings and minimises their issues.
3. Cab9’s CEO, Tarpit Grover, stays in post. How involved will Veezu actually be in running the business, and what reassurance can you give operators worried about disruption?
Continuity has been a key consideration in how this investment is structured. Cab9 will continue to

operate under its own brand and leadership, separate from Veezu. On a day-to-day basis, Veezu and Cab9
will operate a customer/supplier
relationship. Tarpit Grover will remain CEO and continue to
lead the business, its product
development and its customer relationships. Tarpit also remains a significant shareholder, reflecting his ongoing commitment to the long-term success of the business, its customers and its people. As he has put it, the people, passion and product thinking behind Cab9 are not going away - they are being strengthened.
4. How does this fit Veezu’s wider growth strategy and its ambitions for transport across the UK?
Veezu has grown significantly through a series of strategic acquisitions, and as the company has scaled, technology has become integral to the way in which it serves passengers and supports driver-partners. This reflects a deliberate, long-term investment in the infrastructure on which the sector depends.
5. Dispatch is changing fast. What does this investment let Cab9 do on that front that it could not do alone?
The dispatch software behind our sector is undergoing its biggest shift in a generation, with AI and automation presenting enormous opportunities. The aim is straightforward: operators who rely on Cab9 keep pace with this change.
AI and technology aren’t delivered by ambition alone. They take sustained investment to build, train and maintain, and the pace of change is only likely to increase. A capital injection helps put Cab9 in a position to invest ahead of demand rather than fund development from day-to-day operating cash, bring its product roadmap forward and keep delivering innovation. That is what this investment is intended to support: the capacity to keep developing Cab9’s platform and services over the long term.
6. If operators take one message from this, what should it be?
The sector cannot stand still while larger, overseas ride-hailing platforms take more of the market. Technology is key to competing, and this investment speeds up what Cab9 is already delivering.
