CHARGE DROPPED AGAINST ISLE OF MAN CABBIE ACCUSED OF ASKING FOR SEXUAL FAVOURS
A cabbie accused of committing an act against public justice has had the case against him withdrawn. Adrian Erive Santos, 45, from Ramsey, appeared at Douglas Courthouse on 21 July. Santos had been charged after reportedly asking his lone female customer to perform sexual acts
on him in exchange for free travel. Footage from the alleged exchange which took place on the 27 June, was recorded and shared to social media. However in an update provided to the court the prosecutor said, after repeated engagement with the police, the complainant was not supportive of
a prosecution. He said it was ‘evidently clear’ that the complainant was ‘vital’ for any prosecution and therefore he had ‘very little option’ but to ask for the matter to be withdrawn. Releasing Mr Santos from his bail conditions, the Deputy High Bailiff also awarded his costs.
BRADFORD PH DRIVER TO APPEAL AFTER LOSING LICENCE OVER ALLEGED PASSENGER ASSAULT
A Bradford PH driver, Mohammed Mohammed, 37, has had his licence revoked following allegations that he assaulted a passenger during a dispute over a late pick-up. According to Bradford Council, the passenger claimed Mohammed pulled the vehicle over and “punched the victim multiple times in the face.” The allegations
were supported by photographs of an injury to the passenger's lip that required stitches.
While Mr Mohammed admitted to a verbal argument, he denied the altercation became physical. West Yorkshire Police investigated the report but indicated “there is insufficient evidence to proceed” with a prosecution.
However, Bradford Council’s taxi licensing team revoked his licence in February under “the principle of public protection,” concluding he was not a fit and proper person to drive. Mohammed has launched an appeal to regain his licence, which is scheduled for a contested hearing at Bradford Magistrates Court on November 11.
GLASGOW PHV DRIVER DODGES JAIL AFTER BEING CAUGHT WITH £148,000 IN CRIMINAL CASH
A 44-year-old PH driver who was caught with over £148,000 of “dirty money” hidden inside his car has avoided a prison sentence. Irfan Sarwar had initially kept the cash at his luxury home in Glasgow before being intercepted by police during a targeted surveillance operation in Maryhill. NCA officers had been keeping tabs on Sarwar when they spotted him and a child entering his home. He emerged shortly after, alone, and walked back to his Toyota private hire vehicle.

Prosecutor Ryan Watson told the court that officers “saw he was carrying a bag for life which appeared to be weighted” and watched as “Sarwar placed the bag inside and drove off.” Police quickly tailed Sarwar and searched his car while he was stuck in traffic on Garscube Road. Mr. Watson noted that “there was a bag in the footstool which had a large quantity of cash,” which turned out to be “three bundles of cash containing £148,555.” Following his arrest, Sarwar pleaded
guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to possessing criminal property. He explained to authorities that he was struggling financially when he was approached by a group of Albanian men outside a pub two months prior. He claimed a man named Vino “offered him £200 to pick up and drop off the package,” an offer he accepted due to his money troubles. Sheriff Owen Mullan ordered Sarwar to complete unpaid work and put him on a six-month electronic tag between 6pm and 6am.
