UP FR ONT Easyjet to launch five new routes
from Birmingham this summer EASYJET HAS ANNOUNCED plans for five new services from Birmingham to Mallorca, Malaga, Alicante, Faro and Corfu. Flights to Malaga will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays from June 29. Those to
Faro will launch on the same date, operating on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. From June 30 the carrier will fly three times a week to Alicante, followed by thrice-weekly flights to Mallorca (pictured) from July 3, and twice-weekly Corfu services from July 4. Easyjet will be competing with Jet 2, Ryanair and TUI on all five routes. Eurowings has also recently announced plans for flights between Birmingham and Mallorca.
STANSTED MARKS 30TH BIRTHDAY OF TERMINAL BUILDING
LONDON STANSTED has celebrated the 30th anniversary of its Norman Foster-designed terminal building.
Te airport said that nearly 460 million
passengers had passed through the building since it was opened by the Queen on March 15, 1991. Te terminal saw its first flights later that week, with an Air UK service departing for Glasgow and an Air France flight landing from Paris. Stansted said that it had grown from fewer
than 50 routes and one million passengers in 1991 to almost 200 destinations and 28 million passengers. However, the pandemic has seen this figure drop back to 1994 levels. Te terminal has been extended twice since
opening and in 2013 Stansted was acquired by MAG (Manchester Airports Group).
Virgin Atlantic brings back
hand-plated Upper Class meals VIRGIN ATLANTIC HAS REINSTATED welcome drinks and hand- plated main meals in the Upper Class cabin. Following the onset of Covid-19, the carrier launched a new in-flight
service in September last year with meals served in “Fly safe, eat well” boxes. Te latest changes see the return of welcome drinks upon boarding in Upper Class, as well as a choice of three individually plated hot meals, accompanied by a salad and three dessert options, including cheese and biscuits. On day flights, Upper Class customers can opt for a second meal
service of either the signature Eric Lanlard Mile High Tea, a deli dish or a “lighter option”. On night services there is a choice of three hot breakfasts as well as side dishes including fresh fruit, muesli and pastries.
