How to stand Candidates for election as either Trustee or Vice President should complete the relevant nomination form. This must be completed and emailed to Denise Hawkes no later than 5pm on 27 September 2024. Candidates wishing to be considered for co-option as the
New Professional Trustee should email Denise Hawkes with a CV and personal statement detailing their interest in the role. Candidates may be invited to meet with a panel of Trustees to discuss their application.
Eligibility Candidates must generally be an ordinary member of CIL- IP on submission of their nomination, and not disqualified from holding office as a Trustee, or be willing to join within one month of election. As part of our ambition to open up and diversify CILIP’s governance, ethnically-diverse candidates or people from other minority or under-represented communities may be eligible for free membership for the duration of their first term of office. Voting If either election is contested a ballot will be held. All mem- bers eligible to vote and with an email address registered with CILIP will receive an email with full information on how to vote online. Only those members for whom CILIP does not have an email address will receive a postal ballot paper. Please ensure that CILIP has your up-to-date email address. Election timetable Nominations are open now. Last day for receipt of nomina- tions 27 September 2024.
If an election is contested: Despatch of postal voting papers – 1 October 2024;
Despatch of online voting information – 8 October 2024;
Closing date for receipt of ballot papers/online voting – 15 October 2024; Results announced – 25 November 2024.

Will I be paid? CILIP’s trustees and Presidential Team are volunteers and these positions are unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
How long would I serve for?
Trustees can serve up to two consecutive four-year terms of office.
The New Professional Trust is co-opted to the Board for a period of two years. The Vice Presidential role is for one year (2024) and on completion of that year, they become the President for a term of a further year.
