EACH year hundreds of books are nominated for the CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medal, and each year a team of judges have the difficult task of picking winners. The Medals celebrate outstanding achievement in children’s writing and illustration respectively and are unique in being judged by librarians. This year’s Shadowers’ Choice Awards went to Manjeet Mann for Run, Rebel (Penguin Random House Children’s) in the Carnegie category and Australian Sharon King-Chai for Starbird (Two Hoots) in the Kate Greenaway category.
