THE MATTHEW WHITAKER QUARTET

Every year on the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act being signed (July 26, 1990) we will have a Celebration to recognize the progress we've made in creating access for all. At this year's celebration, we are honored to feature a remarkably talented artist who exemplifies what No Limits is all about, Matthew Whitaker.

"DON 'T LET YOUR BLINDNESS OR VISION IMPAIRMENT STOP YOU FROM DOING WHAT YOU WANT TO DO . "

Blind from birth, Matthew had the good fortune to grow up immersed in a musical family. At age 3, his grandfather gave him a small Yamaha keyboard and Matthew's love for music sparked. At age 9, Matthew began teaching himself how to play the Hammond B3 organ. Four years later, he became the youngest artist to be endorsed by Hammond in its 80+ year history. He was also named a Yamaha Artist at 15, becoming the youngest musician to join the stellar group of jazz pianists.

Now 18 years old, Matthew's talent has taken him across the world, from Morocco to Indonesia, and he has performed at the top venues in the U.S., such as the John F. Kennedy Center and the Apollo Theater.
