INTRODUCTION TO NO L IMITS

It's obvious the students are feeling their potential as their world and networks start to really grow. A school that is able to provide that type of opportunity is really inspiring. It’s going beyond the day to day school environment. The interaction between the Club and our Arts Partners mean that there is no longer an invisible wall in the way. Rita Novak, long-time docent at the Eiteljorg Museum says: “This experience has changed the way I see everything."

Ending out the semester, students brainstormed and presented strategies to the leadership at the Eiteljorg Museum on numerous ways the museum could not only become more accessible to them, but to any individual in our community who is blind or has low vision, as a way to open doors and experiences for all. While change doesn’t happen in a day, the Eiteljorg Museum has readily accepted these strategies and has already started working to make change within the museum exhibits, such as opening access to a tactile statue inviting visitors to “please touch."

Interactive exhibits, like the stagecoach in the basement, isn't just for kids. One of the Leadership students, Cody, said: "I really enjoyed the stagecoach. We could feel what it was like to be on a stagecoach, as if we were going somewhere...it put me into the experience. For someone who is visually impaired, it made me feel like I was a part of that."
