was a secure and safe idea to guarantee that my vote counted. It was not a new environment as I headed into the polling site since my mother voted in-person at the specific location each election and I would wait and gaze into the room and observe the dividers, at a young age. Keeping in mind the candidates and propositions as I had evaluated in the mail ballot in previous days, my experience was a quick and memorable one. Initially walking in, I had been uneasy about the crowd of people possibly waiting in line and those inside the building, though luckily it had been near empty and silent by the time I went in to vote! I proudly walked out and put on my ?I Voted? sticker as I did my part in society and felt appreciative for the brave women who marched in the women?

In brief, now that I have placed my foot into the community by becoming a voting member of society, I desire to continue to sit down with individuals who hold contrasting viewpoints and have honest, respectful conversations to listen, speak, and work together to improve our communities. Through this, I would encourage those who do not take advantage of their right to vote and ask them to vote if they were unhappy with the candidates elected and how they are running the country. Depending on their response, I can remind them that they have a voice and how precious their opinion matters and rather than them complaining and being upset with the way our country is managed, to take that frustration and anger and apply it to the ballot to see change. By doing a disservice to the country, there will continue to be problems when we can resolve them.

It is by taking the initiative to influence the outcome and keep the turnout for voters high. This was witnessed in this year?

suspenseful election with the highest voter turnout in the last 120 years. As 2020 has thrown curve balls at us, I am pleased to see that history has been made with Kamala Harris being the first woman, African-American, and Asian-American to be elected as Vice President.
