ental Il lness Six-W eek Series for Parents
Jenny Mott, CVUSD School Nurse, and Maria DeLaTorre, Child Development Specialist, will be presenting the NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) six-week series on the Basics of helping your child with behaviors that may be interrupting their learning. Topics covered in this class include:
Mental illness in children--how it looks; Impact of the illness on the family; Brain biology--getting a diagnosis; Various types of mental illness--anxiety, depression, ADD, ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, disruptive mood disorder, and others; Treatment--importance of early diagnosis and intervention; Communication skills and crisis preparation; Navigating health care, school, and juvenile justice systems; Record keeping; Advocacy and care-giver SELF CARE.
The workshops begin September 27, 2018, every Thursday from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the District's Family Engagement Center on the Adult School campus. Contact

HOPE Center Comunity Care Closets Need Donations m
The Distr ict?s Communi ty CARE Closet exists to provide fami l ies wi th a communi ty of suppor t . Chino Val ley fami l ies in need or cr isis can ?shop? for clothing, emergency hygiene suppl ies, and school suppl ies at no cost to the fami ly. The Distr ict?s Communi ty CARE Closet is located on the Adul t School campus. The Closet is running very low on hygiene and emergency i tems such as, 2 in 1 shampoo/condi t ioner (12 oz. or larger ), toothpaste, deodorant for men/women, and laundry detergent .
Donat ions can be dropped off at the HOPE Center or CARE Closet located at the Chino Val ley Adul t School at 12970 Third Street in Chino from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Fr iday.
