implementing academic content and performance standards adopted by the California State Board of Education for all students by meeting state indicators specified on the California School Dashboard. The dashboard reflects results from annual standardized student testing.
Chaparral Principal Brandon Davis and Country Springs
Principal Tom Mackessy will attend the California School Recognition Program Awards Ceremony on May 3 in Anaheim to officially accept the California Distinguished School award. Both schools will receive California Distinguished School banners to display on their campuses.
Twenty schools in the Chino Valley Unified School District
have been named a California Distinguished School since the award program began in 1986, some more than once. In addition, Ayala High School was named a California Gold Ribbon School in 2015, when the state took a three-year pause (2015-2017) from the California Distinguished School award program to transition to a new assessment and accountability system.

E ARN TUETS AN T F :
I hope you had a relaxing and restful spring break, and now ready to tackle the rest of the school year with passion and determination. This season never ceases to amaze me with the multitude of awards and recognitions bestowed upon our students, staff and schools. I hope you take time to read about them in this publication, and take pride in what a remarkable school district we truly are.
Our excellence is not just in the number of awards we receive, but also in the fortitude of our partnerships with community groups, businesses and of course, law enforcement. The results of our annual Golf Tournament fund raiser is outlined in these pages, and I would like to thank our partners at Adams Photography for putting on the event to benefit our students. I am proud of the collaboration among our District and three law enforcement agencies in putting on the District Safety Forum in March. Turn to the back page to see how our community reacted.
As we enter the homestretch of this school year, I am confident that even greater accomplishments await in the years ahead.
