OPR NITIE TEMD FO COL'S NW PND S.T.E.A.M. LAB Newman fifth-graders Jason Nonis and Amanda Noguez,
fourth-graders Lyla Morales and Joshua Hyatt, and second-grader Emma Rodriguez competed in an eight-week international LEGO competition that culminated in a LEGO building contest at LEGOLAND California Resort in Carlsbad and resulted in an Outstanding Teamwork trophy. The Newman students met other teams from Mexico, Korea, Japan, New York, Alaska, and Texas during the competition. The competition was part of the curriculum utilizing the school?s new S.T.E.A.M. Lab (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), donated to the school by the Chino Kiwanis Club and dedicated at the beginning of the school year.
The subject of the Newman team efforts was a miniature pool built
with LEGO blocks, designed with a dome over the pool to eliminate water loss through evaporation.

Wickman ES Students are Gold Medalist and First Runner Up at County History Competition
Wickman Elementary School fifth-grader Mihir Mandapaka won first place in the elementary poster division of the San Bernardino County 2018 History Day competition in early March.
Mihir?s win qualifies him for the California History Day contest, to be held in May in northern California.
Wickman fifth-grader Elle Scranton was named a first runner-up in the same division at the county competition.
