OWL'LL ABOUT THAT!

We're on the lookout for foster homes for our baby tawny owls! Here's how you can help...

Do you have an unused barn which could be home to baby tawny owls?

If so you could help rehabilitate these lovely creatures.

The owlets would need to remain in the barn - which must be fully enclosed and have windows and/ or stable doors that shade net t ing can be placed on to allow some light in.

They must have plenty of room for them to f ly around in. And the barns must be unused for up to four months of the year.

The fosterers will need to put food in every day. All of the food will be provided by the wildlife centre.

Eventually, they will be able to be released back to the wild on site. Staf f at Stapeley Grange will be on hand to give advice when needed and will give the green light for that f inal day of release.

Current ly, when admit ted to Stapeley

Grange, the owls are moved into aviaries onsite - but as more birds of prey are admit ted over the course of the year, space becomes a problem which leads to a backlog of animals in the hospital.

This is a fantast ic opportunity for animal-lovers. It is very hands-of f as it is imperat ive that the owls are kept wild, however it is very rewarding to know you have played a part in their rehabilitat ion.

?he barns need to be enclosed and also have a natural light source coming in.

We have moved owlets to barns in Wales, Staf fordshire and Derbyshire this year and all the owls are doing really well and will soon be released. We are however looking for more barns that we can use next year and we may also look to use these same same barns for other species too. If you are interested, please email photos of your barn, plus contact details, to stapeley@
