SPEECH By Aidan, 12, Friendswood, TX
When I was just so little I used to think my speech impediment was normal
I used to think that everyone had this But no
My cousin thought it was cool But, no, not at all.
Later I realized that I couldn’t say certain things I had to go to classes on the side to work on it It sucked
Then it came to bullies coming after me Hearing ddddd or bbbb Left and right I was getting chased by the noise.
I used to never talk to people until I got home I was scared to talk, it was horrifying I was always the kid that sat in the corner of the class
Not knowing what to do.
Sometimes it felt like I was getting stabbed Some people even thought it was funny.
I didn’t want to tell my parents about it I didn’t want them to worry about it It led to me getting sad and hurt inside.
Sometimes it felt that I was different from everybody else
Like I was a different species I thought I was the only one. It felt like I was running in a big circle that never ends It got worse until I turned about 8 years old.
Then I started having faith in myself of what I could do
I wasn’t so scared to talk to people I started to feel better about myself I was happy of who I am.
It started to not feel like I was running in a circle Then I started to talk to people and made good friends
I didn’t hear that voice inside of me saying things that weren’t true.
I learned how to control it a little.
Now I destroyed all of these fears inside me Now I feel a lot better than I did I believe in myself a lot more than I did I’ve proved to myself now that if I put my head into it and try my best I can do it.
Hi. My name is Isaac. I stutter a lot and I'm in 2nd grade. I like to play my Nintendo. I like to keep quiet so I don’t stutter. Then the next day it might go away.
