>European Studies is an interdisciplinary degree concerned with Europe and, in particular, Europe’s history, its political institutions (such as the EU), and its vital role in world economics and global politics.


>You’ll study a modern European language – choose beginner or advanced level German or Spanish or French (advanced level only).


>Students participate in the Erasmus programme in their third year, returning to Maynooth University for their final year.

>Acquire fluency in a modern European language and learn about the cultures, politics, societies, economics and history of the region when you study at a university overseas.

> 15 credits in European Studies > 15 or 30 credits of chosen language (beginner level German or Spanish take 30 credits in that language - 15 credits if you already have Leaving Certificate H5 or equivalent)


> Choose 1 or 2 other subjects including Critical Skills from this list: Group 1: Geography, German, Law; Group 2: History; Group 4: Anthropology, Economics, Finance; Group 5: Sociology, Spanish; Group 6: French, Greek and Roman Civilization
