MESSAGE FROM THE
MAYOR CITY COUNCIL
The Avondale City Council wishes all our residents a prosperous and successful 2024 ahead! Looking back on 2023, we had an amazing year as Avondale welcomed new businesses and restaurants, and many families who settled in new homes and apartments in our community.
WeRIDE, our microtransit program, marked its one-year anniversary of providing efficient, cost-effective transit service for the community. Mountain View Community Center was renovated to provide new amenities for all ages, including an e-sports room, a multi-purpose room for community gatherings, and an arts and crafts room. The City Court also was expanded to provide more lobby space and enhanced security for customers. In the meantime, progress continued on the Avondale Aquatic Center, which will open in time for this summer’s fun. Thanks to Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, the city is also investing $573,000 in Old Town to upgrade the Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library and Sernas Park – improvements that will enhance this community hub, where many of our events, such as Billy Moore Days and Avondale Fiesta, take place.
This edition of the RAVE Review highlights the myriad of other events, activities and recreation programs in our community. Our Uniquely Avondale feature on pages 18 and 19 highlights some of the unique coffee spots in Avondale – take a moment to check them out the next time you need a caffeine fix!
