Mountain View Park Expansion Project Budget - $1,100,000


In an effort to enhance the recreational offerings in Old Town, the city of Avondale is gearing up for a transformative project at Mountain View Park. Last year, the northwest corner of the park was freed up as the large water tank, a long-standing fixture was removed by Public Works. This spring, construction is set to commence on a host of exciting new amenities, including a state-of-the-art playground, inviting ramadas, and a much-needed bathroom facility.This project is made possible through a combination of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant dollars.


Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library and Sernas Park Improvements Project Budget: $573,000


Thanks to Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, the city is investing $573,000 in upgrading the Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library and Sernas Park. The improvements include removing visual barriers at the park, relocating the circulation desk on both floors of the library, installing playground enhancements, and boosting security measures throughout. Residents can expect these enhancements to be completed by the end of April 2024, promising a more accessible, enjoyable, and secure experience at this community hub.

Avondale Blvd and Lower Buckeye – Streamlining Traffic Flow and Enhancing Safety


The City has successfully completed street improvements at the bustling intersection of Avondale Boulevard and Lower Buckeye Road. Geared towards improving traffic flow, reducing delays, and enhancing safety for both vehicles and pedestrians, the project included the installation of a new traffic signal, roadway construction, ADA-compliant handicap ramps on all four corners, and the relocation of SRP irrigation facilities crossing Avondale Boulevard.


Avondale City Court Lobby Expansion – Prioritizing Public Safety


The enlarged lobby area now houses a new security office, facilitating a more efficient screening process. This upgrade ensures a secure and welcoming environment for all visitors to the court.


Mountain View Community Center – A Hub for Recreation


The recently renovated Mountain View Community Center, located at 1007 S. 3rd Street, Avondale, AZ 85323, is now open for residents of all ages to enjoy. The center boasts new amenities, including an E-sports room for gaming enthusiasts, a game room with activities like pool and air hockey, a multi-purpose Room for various well-being activities, an arts and crafts room for the creatively inclined, and a flexible conference room for meetings and workshops. The facility offers an outdoor patio for relaxation and fresh air, and an inviting lobby area with comfortable seating.
