One recent customer responded that they had no way of rolling up reports across companies. We talked through that and other customers contributed their own similar stories. We bring everyone into the discussion.”
A lounge reserved for customers
Each day class participants gather and have a catered lunch together in a lounge that was specifically designed to accommodate McLeod customers. “Over the four days, people get to know each other,” Sean says. “They exchange business cards, find out about each other’s business, and learn from each other. The networking opportunities are an important part of the entire experience.”
Private phone booths
Business never stops in the trucking industry, so it’s likely that people will need to use some of the break time to get on their phones or devices and connect with the home office. To make this easy, the lounge also offers several sound-proof phone booths with work spaces inside. “Customers can handle business affairs conveniently and in privacy,” Sean says.
Hotel, restaurant, and shopping options
The previous location of McLeod’s corporate headquarters was a couple of miles from the nearest hotels and restaurants. That has all changed with the
company’s new HQ in the vibrant US Highway 280 corridor in Hoover, the fastest growing suburb of Birmingham. Customers now can choose from a selection of hotels that are very close, over two dozen restaurants of every sort nearby, and several major retail centers in the area.
Fresh air and exercise
Getting outside during breaks always helps you get refreshed for more classroom learning. The new building’s office park is beautifully landscaped with trees, lakes, and miles of walking trails. It’s easy to take a five-minute stroll or a thirty-minute hike.
The Goal is to Give Customers More
Sean points out that when Tom McLeod speaks to a Foundation Training class, he emphasizes that the objective of McLeod Software is to make sure customers get everything they deserve from the software and more.
“I make a point of getting to know customers so that I can understand their business,” Sean says. “I want to find out what roadblocks they face.”
By learning about each customer’s specific challenges, Sean can help them see how the tools offered by McLeod address their unique issues. “That’s the ultimate goal,” he says. “It’s not simply about teaching people how to use the software. We want to help these companies succeed, grow, and prosper.”
