Kids will uncover evidence through science and analysis while conducting fun, weird and interesting science experiments.
Topics will include chemistry, biology, archaeology, physics and electricity.

with EV3 Mindstorms Fee: $95/1 week
The Robotics with EV3 Mindstorm Class is a fun way for students to use logic, math, physics, and imagination in robotics and engineering. No previous experience with robotics or the EV3 Mindstorms is needed. Students will learn through fun hands-on projects and will have small competitions each day to see how well they can program their robot. INSTRUCTOR: Eric Kooi

Crazy “4” Sports is a perfect way for kids to learn the basics of each sport through fundamental drills and games all while making new friends! In each session, kids 7-15 years old will participate in non-competitive drills, followed by a friendly competition in a round-robin format. Players will earn points each day for winning games, losing games and for simply participating! An award ceremony will be held at the end of the program to recognize players who participate and accumulate the most points in each sport and in their age group. Kids sign up individually and will be placed on a different team each day. This program is not intended to be an instructional league.

Participants will join Parks & Recreation Staff for a fun-filled day. The event will begin at 9 a.m. where kids will participate in team building activities before their excursion to Hollywood Sports Park! At Hollywood Sports Park, they will participate in a Splatmaster Paintball Soft Game (information below)! The participants will return to John S. Simms Park at approximately 1:30 p.m. At that time, Parks & Recreation Staff will host a small picnic for participants to enjoy lunch and refreshments as a group. Staff will then lead the group in some team-building games and activities to finish up this awesome day! SPLATMASTER PAINTBALL SOFT GAME (Ages 7-14)
Utilizing .50 caliber paintballs and the popular Splatmaster paintball markers, younger players (as young as 7 years old) can enjoy a day of 6 diverse mission- based games and tactical training. From Hogan’s Alley, Center Flag, Domination, and many more. Splatmaster adventure is the perfect choice for players that are looking for a safe exhilarating rush of paintball and the mission based tactics of their favorite video game. Children will be divided into age groups, 7-10 and 11-14.

Registration is accepted at John S. Simms Park, 16614 S. Clark Avenue. (562) 866- 7510. All registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis only. Walk-in registration only, no telephone or online registration will be accepted. Space is limited, so register early! Completed release form along with full payment are due at the time of registration. Fees are subject to change and are refundable if trip is canceled by the Department of Parks and Recreation. No refund will be issued on excursions canceled by the participant after the stated deadline date. All excursions will depart from and return to John S. Simms Park. Check-in time is 30 minutes prior to the listed departure time.
