CARDIAC DENIAL
An increasingly common parallel in heart patients is a refusal to believe a significant medical problem is occurring. Because of the prevalence of this condition it has been given a name; Cardiac Denial.
Patients who exhibit this symptom tend to wait too long to call for help, thereby worsening their condition and their chance of survival. They say things like “I am too young to have a heart attack.” “What if it’s just indigestion?” or “I don’t want to bother anyone!” All of these can cause dangerous delays in treatment. Any type of chest pain or discomfort should trigger you to get help. You must watch for heart attack warning signs and act quickly!
