name the most profi table PTA event. At the time, I said the summer fair, but I’ve often had reason to wonder. Because even then, I was seeing schools and PTAs look beyond the school gates to create events that the wider (and paying) public wouldn’t recognise as school fundraisers.

plunge, holding events designed to attract the crowds – read what they did on page 31. If you are thinking of doing something similar, fi nd out what to consider when running an event outside the school (page 37). The STEM sector offers career opportunities in diverse areas, but we
often think of STEM as being for the ‘clever kids’, while the practical learning involved can be costly in terms of time and money. Our cover feature explores ways to support STEM learning. For parents interested in technology, IT expert Adam Graham explains
how to maximise AI’s potential and increase the time available to focus on the human aspects of your fundraising work. FundEd members will already know Justin Smith, a specialist in school
income generation and marketing. On page 40, he discusses how to identify potential funders and establish a sense of connection in your bid-writing. Holly Byrne, chair of Southcott School Association, invited teachers,
support staff and pupils to make a wish for the school’s 50th birthday that the group could fulfi l. Her initiative led to a school-wide fundraising campaign that raised over £10,000. I don’t often get to address a national audience,
but hearing your stories and celebrating your fundraising wins brightens my every day. Wishing you all a successful term!
