MEET OUR EXPERTS Summer 2022
Summer is the season of school trips and outdoor adventures but, with costs rising and many families facing financial hardship, funding is a challenge. That’s why we’ve devoted our cover feature to helping schools ensure these valuable experiences can go ahead.
As well as rounding up potential grants and free activities, we look at how you can create a funding strategy that draws on multiple local and community sources to cover the costs of school trips, both this year and moving forwards.
In our Partnerships section, school development director Jo Ballantine reveals how encouraging businesses to invest in education can transform school fundraising and careers provision. Jo also writes this issue’s Diary of a fundraiser, sharing her strategies for building a powerful school alumni network.

The support of headteachers is crucial to fundraising success, as the IDPE’s Louise Bennett demonstrates in her article on leadership. And with energy costs a growing concern, school funding expert Tim Warneford shares how you can cut costs by taking a long, hard look at your energy contracts.
