Industry insights Irrigation on display at farm show
Irrigation Today recently attended Husker Harvest Days — the world’s largest totally irrigated farm show located outside of Grand Island, Nebraska. We asked a few of those attending what irrigation product or display attracted their attention or what they would be looking for as they browsed the 80-acre exhibitor field. Here’s what they said:
“I’m looking at new technology to put on a pivot. Technology has improved so much and what is out there is unbelievable. You can be outdated so fast.”
BILL KETTELER | ALBION, NEBRASKA
“e drip irrigation was interesting. How we could save water was intriguing — especially with commodity prices being lower. Maybe it is possible to expand into growing specialty crops using drip.”
STEVE DRESSMAN | SUPERIOR, NEBRASKA
“e precision in how we irrigate our crops amazes me — whether it is using moisture probes or other technology. I appreciate the attention given to groundwater conservation.”
TRAVIS DOUGHERTY | O’NEILL, NEBRASKA
“As the younger generation, we don’t learn much about irrigation, so coming here is very eye- opening to see pivots up close and learn more about them and how they work.”
