Editorial message Turning over the reins

Fall harvest is in full swing, and it is hard to believe that Irrigation Today is publishing its final edition of 2018. With that said, my term as the Editorial Committee chair of this fine publication is coming near.

I am pleased to report that Bill Thornton, regional sales manager with Watertronics, will be taking the helm as the new chair. Bill has served on the Editorial Committee for over a year and has been involved in developing content for each issue of the magazine.

Many readers may not know that Irrigation Today is overseen by an Irrigation Association Editorial Committee comprised of professionals highly involved in irrigation. Individuals on the committee represent all areas of the industry — center pivot, drip, research, manufacturing and distributors/dealers. Their names are listed below in the publishing information box.

The committee works with Editor-in-Chief Anne Blankenbiller to identify content to include in the magazine that is cutting-edge, relevant and worth the read. These individuals have their fingers on the pulse of the irrigation industry, and having them involved helps ensure that Irrigation Today covers topics that are interesting and relevant.

These members do not get paid for the work they do, and I am grateful for the time and attention they willingly give to support this publication. Many have served on the committee since the very first issue was published in July 2016.

4 Irrigation TODAY | October 2018

I may be giving up my chair at the head of the editorial table, but I still get to hang around for another year as a member of the committee. It has been — and continues to be — an honor for me to be a part of this unique magazine — the only publication solely irrigation-focused for producers, manufacturers, researchers and consultants in agricultural irrigation.

Please keep your comments and suggestions coming. We hope to see you at the upcoming Irrigation Show and Education Conference in Long Beach, California, in December — just a few months away.
