NEWS Welding fume: protect your workers
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has written to fabricated metal businesses across GB to check that they are managing the risks of welding fumes and metalworking fluids. Inspectors will be checking that businesses are complying with the guidance to manage the risk of respiratory diseases. Businesses that received a letter were told they should respond by the end of March. Inspectors will be out visiting fabricated metal businesses across GB between May and September 2021 to ensure duty holders know the risks, plan their work and have adequate control measures in place to protect workers’ health. Before the fabricated metal inspections begin, HSE will promote where to access guidance and resources to help manage risks and ensure businesses are prepared for an inspection. It will also highlight the health risks from welding fumes which can cause cancer and metalworking fluids
which can lead to occupational asthma. Further information and HSE guidance and resources to help manage the risks from welding fumes can be found here. HSE guidance and resources to help manage the risks from metalworking fluids can be found here.
These pages provide tools to help businesses ensure they WorkRight and have the necessary measures in place to protect workers’ health. Further updates on the campaign will be shared in the coming months through their ebulletin, sign up here.
Welding monitoring TVC is the home of weld monitoring equipment. From the innovative ALX III Series to the entry-level MonArc2, we have monitoring equipment to suit every requirement and budget.
Digital interface and wireless technology
The ALX III Series features wireless technology for both network connectivity and use with TVC wireless sensors and digital interface with IoT and Industry 4.0 compliance at all levels. Single channel measuring voltage and current as standard with options for monitoring up to four channels are available. Several specialist software packages are available including:
• Pulse monitoring and analysis (complies with ASME IX (2015), EEMUA Publication 158 (Third Edition) and PD ISO/TR 18491:2015)
• Cladding • Pipeline • Complete WPS programmable from root to cap
With additional features such as RFID card user login, consumable identification bar code scanners, remote viewing of production welding,
procedure qualification and welder qualification and retrofitting for all options, the ALX III can be fully customised to cover all weld monitoring requirements.
Cost-effective, go-anywhere weld monitoring
The MAL III and MonArc2 take minutes to set up, minimising onsite downtime and handle all major arc welding processes. Both measure and record welding current, voltage, arc time, and calculate and record arc energy and heat input as standard.
Optional transducers available for the MAL III: • wire feed • welding travel speed for automated processes
• gas flow and consumption • thermocouple for measuring preheat and interpass temperatures
• factory-configured auxiliary input for other types of transducers such as Oxygen sensors
Optional transducers available for the MonArc2: • wire feed • total wire payoff calculation • total gas consumption calculation
