A President’s prayer for The Fellowship H


oly God, we’re on the cusp of a new year at a time in history


that we can barely comprehend. How can Te Fellowship faithful-


ly be here, now? What are our next right steps? Shh. Let’s take this one step at a


time. Breathe. Be still. Listen.

“Terefore, the Lord God, the holy one of Israel, says: In


return and rest you will be saved, quietness and trust will be your strength …” (Isaiah 30:15a).


It broke our hearts, God, but we did it; we let go of our


plans, we let go of what we can’t do. We know we can’t go faster than our nation’s recovery –


either physical or fiscal – as we plan our 2021 life together. We are turning to You, God. Teach us what we can do. Rest. Stop striving. Breathe. Stay connected to me.


Hey God, have you noticed our recent devotions that


nurture a more wholistic connection with You? Yes, I really like those. Tat’s a fine next step. Now get quiet. Breathe. Listen with each other. Stay connected to each other.


We’re dreaming up ways to foster meaningful personal


and professional connections in the coming year. Tere’s another great step. Now trust me. Breathe. Te Fellowship can’t save itself by its own strength.


You know we’re concerned about adapting to serve a


changing church in a changing world. I will give my vision to you. It’s already on its way.


Hey God, we’ve got a group ready to do that! Of course you do. Whose Spirit do you think it was that


got the ball rolling on that? I will teach you what a Fellowship that more fully reflects


my kindom can look like and I will show you what support- ing excellence in worship arts in a post-pandemic church and world can look like.


You know we’re worried about finances. I made water come out of a rock, for Israel’s sake. Stay with me and I will stay with you, and I will show


you the next right steps concerning finances. Just be ready to do the work.


OK, God. One step at a time? One step at a time, my beloved.
