Light Italian whites excel when the pace of life slows. Fiano Janare La Guardiense from the Campania region is blessed with lemon, peach and pear fruit fl avours. It’s best appreciated from a near-horizontal position on a sun lounger. Sauvignon Blanc takes on a new life
in summer when crisp green salads, ripe tomatoes and goat’s cheese are the order of the day. Bordeaux in France is having a quiet resurgence and producing some excellent exam- ples just now, such as Chateau La Verriere Sauvignon Blanc which has lovely refreshing minerality behind vibrant exotic green fruit.
