Waldorf Astoria Cancun CANCUN, MEXICO

Waldorf Astoria Cancun is a shimmering oceanside luxury spa set among green mangroves, just 15 minutes from Cancun International Airport. It features eight indoor treatment rooms and 13 outdoors, offering treatments that are aimed at revitalising the body and spirit. A sauna and beauty salon complete the experience. Waldorf Astoria Spa Cancun provides an

authentic and transformative programme to guests, focused on their holistic well-being and combining modern innovation with Mayan cultural traditions. The property reinvents the spa experience, incorporating locally sourced oils and fresh herbs from the garden with healing crystals and innovative products to take you on a journey of transformation and enlightenment. The spa experience is inspired by the connection

between the Yaxché or ‘Tree of Life’ and Mayan culture, making use of healing stones and the traditional Mayan cosmovision (understanding of the universe). For Mayan culture, the Yaxché or Sacred Ceiba connected the Earth with the skies and the underworld; it was the centre of the

universe and the bridge that connected different cosmic levels to expand consciousness. One of the most popular treatments is the

Melipona Honey Ritual, which makes use of honey from the indigenous Melipona bee, renowned for its medicinal properties since Mayan times. This honey is said to strengthen the immune system, help heal wounds and burns, alleviate respiratory illnesses and nurture the skin. This ritual has been designed to soothe, rehydrate and help skin recover from external damage like sunburn. It begins with a gentle exfoliation with a base of honey, followed by a honey wrap rich in antioxidants and vitamins, and finishes with a full body massage with exclusive honey oil and a face mask of authentic Melipona honey. Another popular treatment is the Sacred Ceiba

Ritual. The ceiba tree was prized by the Mayans for its therapeutic properties, with leaves that are rich in camphor and tree-bark that has anti- inflammatory and analgesic benefits. This ritual brings together traditional Mayan herbal wisdom with ancient recipes for ointments and oils.

DON’T MISS The hydrothermal circuit — it should be taken at least 60 minutes before the treatment, to relax the muscles
