COMO Laucala Island FIJI

Landing on the airstrip at COMO Laucala Island feels like stepping into an extraordinary natural paradise. This Fijian private island is encircled by a dramatic reef offering exceptional diving and snorkelling, while the interior is a paradise of emerald forests, flowers and healing plants. Guests will be able to encounter ruby-red land crabs, butterflies, and birds dipping their wings mid-flight into the island’s many private swimming pools. The resort embodies luxury in every

facet, with a mere 25 abodes populating the entire island, creating an unmistakable air of exclusivity. A 14-mile walking trail threads its way around the island’s edge, while even the 18- hole championship golf course seems to belong among the rolling green landscape. The residences are designed to reflect the Fijian

soul, with each of them facing the sea — some on the beaches, some peeking out from the forest canopy just behind. The architecture combines soft curves and free-flowing shapes, with thatch roofs made from the leaves of sago palms, dogo

timber, balabala fern stems and traditional coconut husk weave. The resort’s spa, COMO Shambhala Retreat, is

located in the forested heart of the island, among tropical flowers and fruit trees. Body treatments use the island’s river stones, mineral crystals and rich volcanic soils. The Fijian therapists are very experienced, with intuitive healing traditions handed down through the generations. The resort also features five restaurants that

include special healthy COMO Shambhala options. Flavour, health, wellbeing and sustainability are core values of the dining experience, which is reflected in the island’s own cattle and poultry farm, hydroponics, herb garden and fruit orchards. The resort also works with growers on nearby Taveuni Island — also known as ‘The Garden Isle’. With so much space on offer, the range of

available activities often exceeds the length of a guest’s stay and includes hiking, mountain biking, swimming and horse rides along the water’s edge.
