Little Palm Island Resort & Spa LITTLE TORCH KEY, FLORIDA
Following a total restoration in 2019, Little Palm Island Resort & Spa has scaled a new level of hospitality, while retaining the ambience beloved by guests. The resort is filled with tropical foliage, while each bungalow suite has access to the private beach and a waterfront hammock. The four-acre island is teeming with wildlife, including migrating birds and tiny Key deer. The Dining Room is Little Palm’s world-
class restaurant and features hand-carved teak banquets and settees, while historic photos, crystal chandeliers, fresh orchids and playful fabrics compliment the stunning vaulted bamboo ceilings. Wooden French doors open on to the turquoise waters of the Florida Keys and a 360-degree open- air bar makes the most of the amazing views. The Monkey Hut is an intimate and welcoming
beach dining area, while the Great House maintains a palpable connection to the island’s past. The Great Room’s living room area is for guests who want to enjoy the cool breeze and spectacular view with a night cap and cigar in hand, with some vintage vinyl on the turntable.
The new Spa is an exercise in true tranquillity,
with a two-story open courtyard enabling the tropical climate to envelope guests, along with intricate carved wooden details, gorgeous tile floors, a serene fountain and billowing natural fabrics. The spa features treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge and opulent outdoor balconies with soaking tubs and showers. Thirty suites feature a British West Indies
aesthetic, combining old world tradition with modern amenities. There’s an emphasis on ‘getting lost’, with rooms being intentionally low tech, with no televisions, radios and clocks, while inlaid chessboard tables, bird-watching books and binoculars add to the off-grid feel. While fast internet access is available, guests tend to prefer to unplug as much as possible. Framed collections of shells and found objects
from the sea embellish the walls, while bedrooms feature stately four-post beds with flowing drapes. Crisp white luxury linens, dramatic lighting, teak five-fixture bathrooms and outdoor showers all come together to create a true island escape.
Don’t miss The Chef’s Table Experience is a wonderful way of sampling the region’s unique cuisine in an idyllic setting
