Lago Mar’s beachfront is also shared with
special visitors each year. Beginning in March, sea turtles make their way onto the beach to lay their eggs at the same beach they once hatched on. At dusk, guests may notice amber-coloured lighting throughout the outdoor spaces of the resort. These lights are to protect the new hatchlings from confusion and ensure they use only the moon as their guide to find their way to the ocean. Each year, the Museum of Science and Discovery
offers Sea Turtle Walks, giving participants an opportunity to learn about these majestic marine animals followed by an expert-guided tour through sea turtle nesting grounds as well as opportunity to watch a sea turtle nesting happen.
