Here, guests can encounter the local flora and fauna as they skim across the water on canoes. The immersive, two-hour farm tour is a guest favourite. It includes a walkthrough of the coffee
production process that starts with a visit to the plantation and ends with the roasting and tasting of Gallon Jug artisan coffee. Having worked up an appetite after a day
of activities, guests at Chan Chich are in for a culinary experience defined by freshness and authenticity. A commitment to sustainable cultivation is demonstrated in the lodge’s farm- to-table ethos, with over half of the kitchen’s ingredients sourced from the surrounding land. In 2021, Gallon Jug Estate partnered with
more than a dozen other organisations to protect the Belize Maya Forest’s 236,000 acres of rich biodiversity, which help native species such as the endangered jaguar and tapir to thrive. Guests and guides have documented over 370
species of bird within Chan Chich’s grounds. For big-cat lovers, the area surrounding Chan Chich features jaguars, puma, margay, jaguarundi and ocelots.
