Amilla Maldives Resort & Residences BAA ATOLL, MALDIVES
With more than 70% of the island it occupies left as naturally lush jungle fringed by brilliant white sand, Amilla Maldives Resort & Residences is one of the largest, lushest and most spacious five-star resorts in the Maldives. Guests can experience the true luxury of
space to play, with just 59 villas and eight beach residences on the private island resort. The majority of Amilla’s villas are poised on stilts over the water, while a selection are scattered along the beach and perched among the treetops. Each villa has a large outdoor area and private plunge pool, while every residence features multiple bedrooms, making them perfect for families or groups of friends. As a Maldivian-owned resort in Baa Atoll
UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, Amilla Maldives Resort & Residences acknowledges the urgency of protecting the fragile ecosystem. As such, Amilla has launched more than 30 sustainability projects in just two years. In recognition, the five-star resort recently received an EarthCheck Silver Certificate for the second
year running and was accepted into Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s ‘Considerate Collection’. Amilla’s in-house recycling plant, solar panels
and coconut processing facility form the backbone of its sustainability efforts. This is consolidated by recyclable coffee pods, reusable containers, biodegradable bath products and a partnership to combat ocean-bound plastic. Two other big sustainability projects that are
making waves are Homegrown@Amilla and Homemade@Amilla. These steps towards self- sufficiency enabled Amilla to produce much of its own fruit, vegetables, eggs and even bottled water and soaps, as well as make kefir, kombucha and other products in-house. Amilla has recruited a marine biologist to help
to regenerate the shallowest parts of the house reef by growing hardy species of coral on coral frames, which guests can sponsor. The marine biologist oversees other marine projects, too, including reef clean-ups, helping educate students in neighbouring villages about conservation, and running Amilla’s Mini Marine Biologist course.
Don’t miss Enjoy the unique views from the Treetop Villas, perched above the jungle canopy with floating pools
