needs and help them optimise their health and wellbeing with just one simple formula that’s entirely tailored to them. Te initial blood tests carried out
to kick-start the process allow bioniq LIFE to identify any underlying issues, such as nutrient deficiencies or hormonal imbalances, which would otherwise go undetected, and then create a bespoke bioniq supplement regime tailored to the individual, unlike a mass market blend that would have a one-size- fits-all composition. Tis is further enhanced and
supported by regular consultations with a registered nutritionist, bimonthly blood, genetic and microbiome testing and access to a personalised dashboard so you can monitor your progress. For a more general understanding

s more and more of us begin to shun fad diets — given that genetic differences result in different needs
for different people — health and fitness programmes are becoming increasingly personalised. Many companies now offer
extensive analysis of your body’s constitution, including stool sampling, gut microbe analysis and genetic makeup by way of at-home DNA testing kits.
Walk and tone your way to health
J ulie Ford created Instepp® to
simultaneously exercise the upper body and the legs with a 2.3kg
resistance. “People often say that they haven’t got the time or money for the gym,” she explains. Instepp is a fun answer to keeping
fit outside in the fresh air, individu- ally, with family and friends or in the comfort of your own home. It can also be used in the swimming pool or as part of an aqua Instepp workout. Accredited by osteopaths and phys-
iotherapists, Instepp provides ‘func- tional movement’ (using the whole body) as well as improving mental agility and physical fitness.
“Your
brain has to concentrate as you co-or- dinate both your arm and leg move- ments” says Julie. “It’s such a simple idea — it’s ready to use any time, anywhere and it’s attainable, sustain- able and fun” Although you can use Instepp alone
or even seated in a chair, resistance walking is a social activity and is best done in groups. “Feeling well
is so
important,” says Julie. “You don’t need to spend a lot of money or go on fad diets — just keep it simple and walk and tone with friends” says Julie.

of your physical and nutritional traits, CircleDNA tests delivers over 500 personalised reports on genetic categories such as disease risk, food sensitivity, and even behavioural traits. CircleDNA is the first and only
By analysing these results,
companies are hoping to be able to provide a comprehensive analysis specific to the individual’s body, enabling them to provide a product just for you. One such health company which
offers a complete personalised health monitoring service is bioniq LIFE. Using thorough blood testing, patented algorithms and a unique Swiss-patented formula, it can pinpoint an individual’s distinctive
retail test kit to use advanced Next Generation Sequencing technology- based whole-exome sequencing. Tis measures 31 million positions in DNA per person in comparison to other tests that use basic Genotyping, which only analyses around 1,000 to 600,000 per person. Tis has important consequences for diseases such as hereditary cancer as more than 90% of cancer mutations detected by CircleDNA will be missed by other tests. Tests range from £199 to £499
for the premium DNA test, which covers 500 genetic reports across 20 categories, teaching the users
more on how their DNA affects nutrition, response to medicines, physical traits, personality traits, behavioural traits, response to pollution, family planning, wellbeing and ancestry, to name just a few. Te entry-level test is priced £199 and focuses on 125 reports across 14 categories, such as diet, skin ancestry, sleep and stress. If a complete health monitoring
service isn’t what you are after, then there are many companies offering specific services, for example Healthpath, which offers a complete gut health test. Richard Nehme, founder and CEO
of Healthpath, says: “Te gut health tests give everyone the opportunity to take a professional-grade gut health test at home. Most straight- to-consumer tests only look at bacteria, but we look at bacteria, yeasts, archaea, parasites and other important markers of digestive function. We also ask about your symptoms. In your report, you not only get a comprehensive picture of how your gut is functioning, you also get a personalised, evidence- based health programme to help you optimise your gut health for the long-term.” Nehme adds: “We can now look
at our genetics to see how bodies process certain foods, and new technology makes it quick and easy to map the microbes in our gut too. Together, these have the potential to show how we individually respond to different ways of eating, and how we can optimise our diets to improve our wellbeing, athletic performance and more.”
