Leading London aesthetic clinic transforms into a private GP practice to assist patients during crisis

A

nswering an immediate call for urgent healthcare in London, in the wake of the ever evolving

Coronavirus pandemic, leading otolaryngology consultant, Dr Bashar Bizrah MD, DLO RCS, FRCS Ed is set to transform his London-based, private aesthetic practice into a dedi- cated, private GP clinic. Supporting the current healthcare needs of the British public, the Kensington and Chelsea-based clinic, Beyondmed, will offer private appointments for patients suffering from non-Covid-19 health issues.

Dr Bizrah states: “When I saw the latest figures from public health authorities on the spread of Covid-19 in the UK, I was shocked to see the borough of Kensington and Chelsea topping London’s list (43 cases as of 17 March 2020). I knew we needed to take urgent action to reduce the stress on the NHS and support the local community’s healthcare needs.” With a team of experienced health

practitioners and an in-house, GMC-registered GP, Beyondmed is able to cater for individual

requirements and is well prepared to address health concerns that aren’t currently being treated, due to a strain on NHS resources. Prior to the onset of coronavirus, the clinical team at Beyondmed noticed a gap in support services. Tey identified health issues; from vitamin deficien- cies, noted during hair

transplant

procedures, to breathing difficulties, such as sleep apnoea, occurring prior to rhinoplasty treatments. Tese health concerns required ongoing advice and assistance. As a result, Beyondmed created a 12-month free follow-up on all procedures to ensure optimal patient care. Now, given the current stress on the UK healthcare system, they plan to bridge the gap by offering outstanding quality of care from world-class clinicians.

NHS under strain with Covid-19 In the latest move to assist an already overburdened NHS, the government announced that millions of oper- ations are being

postponed and

patients urgently discharged from hospital. In turn, GPs are forced to prioritise their time to care for those

most in need. Public Health England’s latest guidance (as of 16 March 2020) is to self-isolate for 14 days if your, or a member of your household, displays a new onset or continuous cough or a temperature above 37.8C. Beyondmed is falling in line with these require- ments and requests that patients don’t attend clinic if they’re displaying these symptoms, but make use of the ‘virtual visit’ service instead. “We’re currently exploring the

possibility of Covid-19 postal testing, but as this is yet to be confirmed, we’re advising any patients who think they have symptoms to follow Public Health England advice and self-iso- late,” Dr Bizrah commented.

Virtual visits for social distancing Te Beyondmed ‘virtual visits’ system for patients practising social distancing offers video consultations with a private GP. E-prescriptions can also be given, ensuring those in self isolation can avoid contact, yet still receive any medication required. Beyondmed will continue to offer

aesthetic solutions to patients seeking services provided previously.
