Christmas Unwrapped Gift of Giving What’s in your bedroom?

If you were forced to leave your home with only one suitcase, what would you take? What would you have to leave?

One in 50 Londoners experienced homelessness

in 2024. Street Stor-

age is the only charity in the UK that provides people experiencing home- lessness with free, accessible and safe storage for their belongings. Once someone is not carrying their

life on their back, they’re given more physical and mental freedom: free- dom to find a safer place to sleep, to gain and maintain employment and to secure housing. People like Ethan,*

who stored

essential work tools; Tia, photos of her children; and Piotr, his laptop to apply for jobs. Making a donation to Street Storage

ensures the charity can be there when people need it.

Will you give BSL a future?

British Sign Language (BSL) is a rich, visual language that con- nects Deaf people to culture, community and identity. For over 130 years, the British Deaf Association (BDA) has champi- oned the rights of Deaf people across the UK — working to ensure BSL is recognised, protected and passed on to future generations. the charity’s

Voice and Leadership project, it empowers young Deaf people to find their voice, build confidence and realise their potential.

Tis Christmas, your gift could

help a parent sign their first story to their child. Or support a young Deaf person to become a future leader. Together, we can build a more inclusive society — where Deaf people can thrive without barriers.

Help people affected by cancer

Te Olive Tree is a small but vital independent charity serving Sussex and Surrey. It provides crucial sup- port to adults affected by cancer, including patients, families, friends and carers. Entirely self-funded, the charity is dedicated to promoting members’ mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Te Olive Tree receives no stat-

utory funding. As demand for its services increases, it depends even further on donations to continue serving its community. Navigating a cancer diagnosis is an incredible challenge for patients and those caring for loved ones. Access to its services like counselling, com- plementary therapies, workshops and support groups, delivered by passionate volunteers, is needed more than ever. Te Olive Tree is also seeking a

public figure, celebrity or influencer to become its patron — to help raise awareness and drive fundraising efforts. If that is you, do get in touch.

Give great gifts that do good

In Yemen, years of conflict have left many families struggling to provide nutritious food

When baby Sanad was just four months old, he was severely malnourished,

and his parents

Raneem and Sameh took him to a UNICEF-supported health centre, where local health workers provided life-saving therapeutic food. Tanks

to their care, and

with support from his family, Sanad made a full recovery. Here he is celebrating his second birthday with his mum. “My baby is finally smiling and

laughing. It makes me so happy,” says mum Raneem. Working with families and

communities with the help of supporters, UNICEF provides vital supplies and strengthens health, education and welfare services, so children grow up safe and healthy. UNICEF’s Inspired Gifts scheme

represents real, life-changing items. Tey make great presents and support families and communities to make childhood unstoppable.
